The EUFRAS/IALB Conference took place from 19th till 23rd of June in Limerick, Ireland and offered rural professionals the opportunity to gain new knowledge, skills and perspectives and experience the green and beautiful surroundings of south-western Ireland.
Limerick, founded by the Vikings, is Ireland’s third largest city dating back more than 1,000 years. Located on the banks of the river Shannon, the city is surrounded by fertile and highly productive farmland. The university of Limerick campus, with its state-of-the-art facilities, is our conference venue.
‘Innovation Support for a Diverse Agriculture’ is the theme. The conference will consist of plenary sessions, excursions taking in farm visits and cultural highlights, and highly interactive workshops. The workshops will be highly ‘applied’ with participants learning about, and discussing, new initiatives in knowledge transfer and other professional skills. The official languages of the conference are English and German.
Naturally, the conference will have a strong Irish flavour but colleagues from other countries will also share their knowledge and expertise. Attending the conference will give you a great insight into how Irish farmers and rural professionals are dealing with today’s challenges.
You are sure to gain new ideas on how to increase your personal effectiveness and serve your farmer clients even better. There will be ample opportunities to network and have some fun with colleagues from across Europe. Of course you will also experience some of the most extraordinary landscapes in the country.
