EUFRAS Coffee Break -

“BroilerNet: From Challenges to Champions”

EUFRAS invites you to the next Coffee Break online event, featuring the innovative European project BroilerNet, dedicated to improving broiler (meat chicken) farming across Europe.

Join us on 28 May at 10:00 CET via Zoom to discuss current challenges and solutions in animal welfare, animal health, and environmental sustainability in broiler production.

What to expect from this Coffee Break

During this EUFRAS Coffee Break session, participants will:

  • gain insight into the innovative BroilerNet approach and its networking model,

  • learn how best practices are identified and selected,

  • discover concrete examples of “champion” solutions,

  • discuss the most pressing sustainability challenges in the broiler sector.

After the presentations, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and engage in an open discussion with the experts.

  • Prof. Stefan Gunnarsson – Project Coordinator, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU)
He will present the BroilerNet framework, key project outcomes, and the concept of “networking as a driver of innovation” in broiler production.

  • Dr. Annunziata Palamara – CRPA
She will share insights into environmental sustainability challenges identified across the three consultation rounds of the project and how these evolved throughout the process.

About the project

BroilerNet is a European cooperation project aimed at identifying and disseminating good practices in broiler farming, with a strong focus on:

  • animal welfare,

  • animal health,

  • environmental sustainability.

The project established innovation networks in 13 European countries, which worked through several cycles to identify sector challenges and solutions. As a result, more than 100 good practices were collected, from which 24 “champion” practices were selected and further analysed through cost-benefit assessments.

All results are widely shared with farmers, advisors, veterinarians, and other stakeholders through factsheets, videos, webinars, and the Broiler Knowledge Hub platform.

Don’t miss the opportunity to join the discussion and connect with experts shaping the future of sustainable broiler production in Europe. Register
