IPM Decisions - An Innovative Platform for Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

IPM Decisions is a Horizon 2020 funded project that ended 31-5-2024. IPM Decisions developed a platform with free available Decision Support Systems (DSS) for integrated pest management that can be used across Europe. The platform is providing farmers, advisors and researchers access to at current 29 DSS and weather data from across Europe through a set of five dashboards.

IPM Decisions, is a Horizon 2020 project, concluded on May 31, 2024, and has left behind an innovative platform for integrated pest management (IPM) across Europe. This user-friendly, one-stop shop offers 29 integrated Decision Support Systems (DSS) and comprehensive weather data through five intuitive dashboards, benefiting farmers, advisors, and researchers alike. The platform allows users to evaluate the reliability and suitability of different DSS, ensuring they select the best options for their needs.

Launched in March 2024, www.ipmdecisions.net continues to provide crucial risk information, supporting ongoing IPM practices in Europe.

The IPM Decisions platform aims to enhance DSS adoption for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Europe, with advisors playing a key role in building farmer trust.

Comparison and Adaptation Dashboards

Most Decision Support Systems (DSS) are developed and validated in specific regions. To ensure reliable outputs in other countries, DSS may need adaptation. This project introduced two dashboards to facilitate this process.

  • Comparison Dashboard: Users can compare DSS outputs for different years using historical weather data or compare different DSS outputs for the same disease across regions. This helps farmers and advisors select the best DSS or understand contrasting risks.

  • Adaptation Dashboard: Users can modify parameters of a DSS to create a local version. This helps farmers compare agronomic risks and allows researchers to adjust thresholds for different regions, validating new versions.

The platform uses a large range of Decision Support Systems (DSS) which can be adjusted for regional conditions, giving farmers and advisers indicators of risk. The list with DSS can be found here and shows the range of pests and crops which are incorporated into the platform. The full functionality of these DSS can be used on the platform.
